Renesas Electronics (TSE:6723), a global semiconductor solution provider, announced today that its automotive network security management system (CSMS) for the development of microcontroller (MCU) and system-on-chip (SoC) has been defined and implemented according to the international standard ISO/SAE 21434:2021. CSMS framework is suitable for Renesas Electronics' design center in Musashi, Japan, and has been certified by Tü v Rheinland Industry Service GmbH.

This certification reaffirms Renesas Electronics' commitment to first-tier suppliers and automobile manufacturers (OEMs), that is, Renesas Electronics will continue to perform its CSMS duties and help automobile manufacturers obtain vehicle type certification according to the requirements of UNECE)UNR155 regulation recently. As stated in the press release issued earlier, all Renesas electronic automobile MCU and SoC developed after January 1, 2022 will follow the certified ISO/SAE 21434:2021 network security management system (CSMS) development process, including 16-bit RL78 and 32-bit RH850 MCU, and the popular R-Car SoC product family.
Anzeng Guizhi, Vice President of the HPC Core Technology Division at Renesas said: "Through independent third-party certification, customers can be sure that Renesas Electronics' management of CSMS process meets the requirements defined in ISO/SAE 21434:2021. OEMs and tier-one suppliers can use this kind of independent third-party certification to simplify their vehicle approval process without having to conduct their own audit of our process. "
Renesas Electronics has made great contributions to the formulation of ISO/SAE 21434:2021 standards worldwide, and its commitment and dedication to network security has surpassed that of the automobile industry. In 2019, Renesas Electronics obtained TüV Rheinland certification, which meets the IEC 62443-4-1 standard. This standard specifies the process requirements for the safe development of industrial products.
Renesas Electronics continues to develop safe and reliable products for customers. ISO/SAE 21434:2021 certification is the latest achievement of Renesas Electronics in the field of automotive MCU and SoC after ISO 26262 certification. Customers can ensure that when Renesas MCU and SoC are used in the new generation of in-vehicle systems, they will meet the international standards of product network security and functional security.
