A five-terminal Intelligent Power Switch (IPS), the AUIPS7091GTR has built-in protection against short circuits, overheating, ESD, inductive loads, and diagnostic feedback. At the Ilim value, the output current is constrained. Up until the heat protection kicks in, the current limiter is activated. If the junction temperature rises above Tshutdown, the over-temperature protection shuts down the gadget. The junction will automatically resume once it has cooled to 7°C below Tshutdown. For status feedback of short circuits, over-temperature, and open load detection, a diagnostic pin is included. Large offsets between the logic ground and the load are possible thanks to the double-level shifter circuitry.
