There is an optimized performance in this voltage regulator because it utilizes the Tube package. There are two types of analog ICs in this voltage regulator 12v: SWITCHING REGULATOR ICs, which are the ones used in older voltage regulator 12vs. This harley voltage regulator is available in the 10-TFSOP, 10-MSOP (0.118, 3.00mm Width) Exposed Pad package for the purpose of space saving.
