In order to protect the photodiodes against damage, they are packaged in the Bulk. Continually operating in reverse-bias mode, a photodiode's maximum voltage is 100V. Reverse-bias photodiodes should not be operated above 100V permanently. Despite the absence of light, photodiodes make 65pA current.
