The SPV1040TTR is a low-power, low-voltage monolithic step-up converter with an input voltage range of 0.3 V to 5.5 V that can maximize the energy provided by solar cells (or fuel cells) in applications where low input voltage handling is critical. The SPV1040 offers optimal efficiency in terms of power captured from the cells and delivered to the output thanks to the incorporated MPPT algorithm, even under fluctuating environmental circumstances (such as irradiation, dirt, and temperature). A voltage regulation loop is used in the gadget, which uses a resistor divider to fix the charging battery voltage.
A sensing resistor can be used to set the maximum output current based on charging requirements. When the maximum current threshold (up to 1.8 Apk) or the maximum temperature limit (up to 155 °C) are surpassed, the SPV1040TTR protects itself and other application devices by ceasing PWM switching. The input source reverse polarity protection function of the SPV1040TTR prevents damage in the event of a reverse connection of the solar panel on the input.
